welcome
NEW! Fractopia 2.1 is now available! Download it here
Windows Vista and 7 problems have finally been fixed.
You have found... Fractopia!
Thanks for dropping in.
Fractopia Screen Saver is a fractal generator and screen saver maker combined. You create your own fractal patterns and the colours come to life when your computer is idle.
Fractopia version 2 contains lots of new features. There are new colour schemes... new fractal formulas... a new "slide show" feature... and a cool new Mandelbrot-shaped interface. You can undo/redo your changes, and adjust the size of your screen savers.
It runs on Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista and 7.
The Java applet on our home page gives you an impression of Fractopia in action. The screen shots page is also worth a look. Here you can see what the new Fractopia explorer window looks like. This is the creative zone where you design and build your screen savers.
There are some nice thumbnail shots of actual savers to be found in the Gallery. These have been created and sent in by Fractopia users. If you like, you can download one and build it into a full-screen saver at home. I suggest you download the software first, and spend some time playing with it. Then come back and follow these instructions.
The evaluation copy gives you a lot for free. You can choose from 5 different colour schemes for your saver - Bamboo, Blue Moon, Patriot, Phosphorescence or Sweet Shop. And you get 3 fractal formulae to start exploring - Mandelbrot, Doublebrot and Psychobrot :o).
Some cool special effects are included. Ribbons and Lake Magic transform your work, adding wonderful 3D-effects and intriguing new motifs.
To cap it all, Fractopia Screen Saver doubles as an interactive light show. When your favourite fractal is playing on the screen, you can control it in real time - changing direction, speed and colours in an instant by tapping a key.
With the evaluation copy, you've got enough to create loads of unique screen savers. When you want to take it further, there are 38 more amazing colour schemes and 21 fascinating extra formulae waiting for you in the registered version.
Registering gives you all these, plus free upgrades for every new release of the software below version 3.0. It also banishes those nag screens to endless night! ;o)
It's worth registering for the additional colour schemes alone, as just changing the colours can radically alter the appearance of a saver. Some of the best ones are found in the registered version:
Sunshine Daydream, Tigers Eye, Rasta, Rainbow Chrome, Smooth Marmalade... these are just five distinctive schemes out of the 43 available to you when you register.
So have fun, and drop me a line one of these days.
Cheers,Gil
